All That Glitters

Tuesday, June 26th, 2012

The saying might go “Not all that glitters is gold” but that didn’t seem to apply to Osklen’s Spring 2013 runway. Gold glittered everywhere. From the bags, to the shoes ,to the skirts and dresses, every look had a midas touch. The title of the show was “Endless Summer” and all the gold reminded us of the ever-present summer sun.

The show began by taking us for a ride. A video projection put the audience in the backseat of a car making its way along the Brazilian coast. We arrive at a secluded beach set against the light of a fading Brazilian sunset. A radio voice reads off a surf report of clear skies and light winds, perfect for a day of surfing.

While no surfing might have actually taken place (this is a runway afterall) the clothes all paid homage to the sport with swimwear and wetsuits aplenty, as were digital prints of sunsets, waves, and palm trees. The sunset inspired prints really stood out, the brilliant yellows, oranges, and reds were so evocative of the fading golden sunlight that they would have made Helios blush. The black and white beach prints were equally as moving, and when paired with silver accents, the moon let its voice be known.  While you might not be able to bottle up a day (and night) at the beach, Osklen’s Spring 2013 collection got pretty darn close.

Happy “Dia dos Namorados”

Tuesday, June 12th, 2012

Today is Valentine’s Day in Brazil, known in Portugese as Dia dos Namorados. So grab your guy or girl, look into their eyes, and say it with me “Te Amo”. Fiftytwo Showroom is honoring the day by showing some love to our favorite Brazilian brands. So pack your bags because we are taking a trip south.

Clube Bossa: Clube Bossa has made a name for itself with its luxurious swimwear collection. With their original prints and expert draping techniques, Clube Bossa has brought fashion back to the beach.

Jo De Mer: Jo de Mer somehow bottles up a day a la playa in all of her bikinis. Her collection is the perfect combination of surf, sand, and sexy, putting one on makes you feel like the girl from Ipanema.

Serpui Marie:  Whether it’s paying homage to the sea with her mother of pearl line, or to the forests with her bamboo clutches, Serpui Marie finds inspiration for her handbag line all around Brazil. But surf or turf, Serpui’s handbags bring a touch of elegance to everyone who wears them.

Osklen: Finally, one for the boys and girls. This line defines cool for both sexes with its luxury sportswear, accessories, and footwear lines. Vibrant colors and prints add an edge to the athletic inspired looks from this Brazilian favorite.

Adriana Degreas: Back to what Brazil does best. Bikinis. It’s no accident that it’s the Gisele’s native country. Fun prints and a touch of luxury sets this line apart from the pack.

Poolside Couture

Friday, February 18th, 2011

It’s an unusually warm February day here in NYC, and it seems like a happy coincidence that Brazilian swimwear line Clube Bossa is available today on Net-a-Porter.  The Resort 2011 season marks the brand’s first official launch in the US. For those of you unfamiliar with this collection of luxurious suits and cover ups, Clube Bossa was founded in 2006 by Brazilian designer Guilherme Vieira.  Clube Bossa is couture for the world of swimwear: each piece is handmade and takes several days for completion.  We love the classic pleating on the one pieces, and don’t even get us started on the elegant maxi dress cover up (talk about a day to evening look!). So while it may not be warm enough to hit the beach quite yet, it’s definitely warm enough for some online shopping!

Introducing ZEFERINO footwear

Wednesday, January 19th, 2011

Introducing Zeferino handmade footwear. Established in 2006, Zeferino is a collection of shoes and accessories manufactured in their privately owned factory with the highest standards of quality.

With a great following in its native Brazil,  three flagship stores in the country’s most prestigious cities (Sao Paulo and Brasilia), Zeferino’s shoes are a must have in the closets of every stylish Brazilian. After many successful seasons, Zeferino decided to expand their horizons and launch the brand Internationally, evoking the glamour and allure of today’s “It Girls”.

Much as the muses that inspire the collection, the shoes are edgy yet feminine, strong yet sexy and each with a very distinguished look.

Heels, flats and boots in sharp colors and innovative textures are the base of the collection, filled with character and a seductive personality. This season, the line introduces a snakeskin print on calf hair, mixing tradition with the unexpected, which is the idea behind Zeferino’s shoes. There is always something unusual: a thicker heel, a pop of color, metallic python or a rubber sole.

With a rich color palette of jewel tones with touches of earthy shades, the collection launches Fall 2011 with a sophisticated panache. Having the strength and confidence of an already established brand, Zeferino brings to the American market a collection of statement pieces that are made to bring out the “It Girl” on each woman that wears them.
