Ten Over Six: Where Art Meets Fashion

Wednesday, April 11th, 2012

Our latest trip to Ten Over Six in L.A. is leaving us feeling inspired. The store has the feel of a gallery more than a retail store. The stark white space comes alive with products meant to evoke beauty, “whether  it’s Fashion to be worn, Art to be loved, Home Design to be lived with, Beauty to uplift, or Music/ Books/ Films to inspire.” The diverse selection of goods, all with the same curatorial concept of exploring the conversation between design disciplines, create an atmosphere of play and discovery.

Not content with just selling, Ten Over Six has partnered with some of the most exciting designers in the industry, such as Vena Cava, Lizzie Fortunado, and LA Eyeworks to name a few. They’ve even extended their reach into home designs with Future Perfect, a record label with Mexican Summer, and Lighting Design with Lindsey Adelman.

Of course, here at Fiftytwo, we are most interested in the clothes. With its brand collection boasting such labels as A.P.C, Band of Outsiders, Alexander Wang, and Karen Walker among others, Ten Over Six has positioned itself on the vanguard of fashion. Look out for our very own Jaunt collection, arriving in the store for Fall 2012. Best of all, if you can’t make it to L.A. you can shop online here!

Jaunt FW 2012

Monday, April 9th, 2012

If you ever find yourself at the showroom around 4pm, you might be lucky enough to hear the little pitter patter of feet and baby cries of excitment in broken German and Portugese. Undoubtedly, that little baby (named Luna) will be followed by her beautiful mother, Ana Lerario-Geller, who is more often than not, shimmering in her FW2012 Jaunt collection. After exploring a more formal ready to wear collection with Lerario Beatriz, Ana decided to transition into a more casual relaxed collection to fit in her with her lifestyle as a busy mother.

In the lookbook, as seen below, the looks are silhouetted against a background of oxblood and sand. Some of the pieces are covered in sequins of different sizes evoking aquatic phosphorescents with their green and silver reflections. Other looks use Ikat prints and neckline embellishments, calling to mind foreign lands and traditional crafts. Together, they create an image of wanderlust, a look that calls on us to celebrate fantasy and leave behind reality.

What to Bring on your Memorial Weekend Getaway

Thursday, May 26th, 2011

It’s that time of year when summer feels like it has finally begun… people are starting to dig up their bathing suits and sunhats for a long weekend dedicated to picnicking, laying in the sun, and sipping on sangria. Whether you are going to the beach, driving out to the country, or lounging on a friend’s patio,  what better way to welcome summer than with some color?

Rosa Cha‘s wonderfully patterned bathing suits are the type of thing you can wear both to the beach and to the pool party that’s more about showing off your swimwear than actually swimming. You’ll be  certain to stand out in a suit like this one.

You never want to over-accessorize swimwear, but this bright, nature inspired ring by Rue will be the perfect compliment to any bathing suit.

If you are headed to the beach, throw this Marzia Genesi cover-up on over your swimsuit, the light blue will look great with a tan.

This Jaunt dress (left) is perfect for both a picnic in the park and a night out afterward. Dress it up with a Fiona Paxton Necklace (right) and you are set for the evening.

For the men (or women stealing their guy’s shirts), add some color with a  Baron Wells linen shirt.

This Charlott Vasberg carryall is just the right size for a change of clothes, a bottle of sunscreen, and a good book – what more could one need?

They recently welcomed Fiftytwo’s very own Jaunt, by Ana Lerario-Geller, which couldn’t be a better fit for the stores worldly, timeless feel.

They also happen to be across from one of our favorite chocolate shops Mast Brothers (we understand, shopping can be tiring… a chocolate pick me up is essential).

A Jaunt-y Shoot

Thursday, February 24th, 2011

On a chilly Sunday morning, as most people slept off their Saturday evening shenanigans, the fifth floor of 52 Walker Street was wide awake and ready for work. Around 8 AM, photographers, hairstylists, make-up artists, and one model filed into Fiftytwo for the Jaunt photo shoot. As sets and lighting were adjusted and the model was dressed and styled, designer and Fiftytwo founder Ana Lerario quietly oversaw the day’s production. The garments in her F/W ’11 collection featured Jaunt’s signature edgy wear-ability. As the model posed and pranced around the set, it was easy to see how these intricately embellished t-shirts and flowing tops were not only beautiful, but practical components of one’s everyday wardrobe.

An arsenal of supplies...

...and an army to use them!

Lighting, hair, styling: everything just right.
