Fiona Paxton Featured in Vogue Turkey

We’ll admit it, we have a severe case of wanderlust. South America? Check. Africa? We’re there. India? When’s the flight. While an around the world trip might be a bit out of budget (okay, a lot), with Fiona Paxton’s designs we can at least look like we’ve trotted the globe.

The beauty of Paxton’s designs is her ability to combine new silhouettes with traditional beading and metalwork patterns. Fiona Paxton was raised in punk-era Britain but traveled extensively through India, drawing upon non-western colors and geometries. While globalization might have its problems, the world has certainly benefited from Paxton’s international take on design.

We Heart Kiel Mead

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2011

Matchsticks. Nails. Old keys. A wadded up piece of gum. What the untrained eye would discard as useless knickknacks, Kiel Mead turns into wearable art.  As a former Industrial Design major at Pratt, Mead is known for his use of unconventional objects and interestingly simple designs.  His forget me knot rings have been wildly popular, and don’t even get us started on that gold dental retainer necklace (yes, like the one you sported in middle school). His latest collection, Heartsmith, features delicate gold and silver heart rings, his-and-her pendant necklaces, and simple heart necklaces: perfect for showing Mom some love (since Mother’s Day is this Sunday, May 8. We KNOW you didn’t forget!).  Read more about Kyle Mead’s inspirations here.

Introducing Fiona Paxton Jewelry!

Wednesday, January 12th, 2011

We’re excited to introduce jewelry line Fiona Paxton to fifytwo showroom!

Launched in 2008, Fiona Paxton’s London based eponymous jewelery line has had global success. Made using traditional Indian artisan beading techniques designed in a modern way and styled with a hint of punk attitude.

Trained as a textile designer at London’s Royal College of Art, Fiona worked as a textile designer for fashion houses and textile studios before launching her jewelery collection that was quickly picked up by some of the worlds’ best fashion stores and a whole host of international celebrities.

The collection is designed in seasons to reflect the changing moods and ideas of fashion and modern culture. Pattern, color, techniques and  new materials are the inspiration behind each season. The brand is expanding adding a men’s collection to work alongside the women’s collection.
