Jo De Mer

As the Fiftytwo team prepares for Miami Swim Week this weekend, we thought it the perfect time to take a deeper glimpse into the glamorous world of Jo De Mer, the Brazilian beachwear brand that will be showing at the Swim Show, and now a must-have for some of the top editors and jetsetters in the fashion world. Amalia Spinardi, former fashion editor, left the editorial world to create comfortable yet sophisticated swimwear. According to Amalia, Brazilian women pack 2 suits for each day of their vacation, scroll down to see why.

To start this season off on the right foot, Amalia headed to the West coast earlier this month where Alexandra Von Furstenberg hosted a luncheon in Beverly Hills to help launch the line in Hollywood. In attendance were Ali Larter, Minnie Mortimer Gaghan, Jacqui Getty, Jessica Paster, Eva Amurri and several other lithe Angelenos.

Fresh off her honeymoon to Morocco, it was obvious what Amalia’s inspiration would be for the Resort 12 collection. With a range of fresh neutrals: shades of terracotta, sunset, bronze, nude, burnt orange and surprising touches of magenta and royal blue, her starting point came across both literally (exclusive tile and animal prints) and figuratively (striped suits in a range of colors representing the sunset). Unique cutouts and textured fabrics make the bikini an appropriate layering piece, a look we’ve been seeing New York City girls sporting this Summer. Printed cover-ups, accessories and swimwear for children complete the always sophisticated yet relaxed collection. Three key looks from the newest Resort collection, debuting in Miami this weekend, are featured below. Hmmm, so this explains why Brazilian women pack 2 bikinis for each day of their vacation.
