We’ve been so crazed wrapping up 2011 that we’ve let the Fiftytwo blog fall to the wayside a bit. Now that 2012 has arrived, we resolve to update our comings and goings on a regular basis, hooray!
Now, a much-deserved closer look at one of our favorite new shops, Aloha Sunday – a surf inspired store in San Diego’s North Park neighborhood. In October, Katie and Jessica popped by the store to chat with the guys and experience the one-of-a-kind interior and carefully curated selection.
The idea is to offer brands that aren’t available at your typical surf shop at affordable prices for the surfer and non-surfer alike. Alongside impeccable vintage finds and grooming products, Aloha Sunday stocks Men’s and Women’s items from Olasul, Marzia Genesi Sea, Industry of all Nations, Josh Oldenburg surfboards and Penny Skateboards just to name a few.
The interior-a thoughtful hybrid of vintage industrial and rustic minimalism- is as much a draw as the merchandise. Using salvaged materials and reclaimed wood to construct the walls and shelves, the guys created a homey atmosphere for shopping or just relaxing on the stage with a coffee and meeting people from the local beach community. It reminds us of the way folks used to shop. And for those that cannot make it to sunny San Diego, you can check out their e-commerce site here. As they say on the West coast, rad.
